Abstract
PURPOSE:To take measure against the pollution of operating rooms by putting the laughing gas in excess anesthetic gas in contact with the specific catalysts which are hard to be poisoned by narcotics such as halothane used together with laughing gas. CONSTITUTION:The catalysts comprising letting spherical alumina carriers carry nickel oxide at 13wt% based on the weight of the carriers, cupric oxide at 7wt% and chromium oxide at 2wt% are packed for a length 10cm in a stainless steel pipe of an inside diameter 1.5cm to provide a reactor 1. This reactor 1 was heated at 480 deg.C and the mixed gases of laughing gas and oxygen were preheated to 480 deg.C by a preheater 3 and passed through the inlet of the reactor at 50ml/min, then the laughing gas was decomposed 100% and the total density of the NO2 and NO in the gas coming out from the reactor outlet was 5ppm. When halothane 750mg was added to the above mixed gases, the rate of decomposition of the laughing gas only decreased to 97% from 100%.
