Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve electric contact-point material in discharge wear resistance or the like by a method wherein one or more of Si and Ge and a specific amount of one or more of sub-additional elements such as Au, Pt, Pd, Rh, Ru, Os, and Ir are added to Ag, and are internally oxidized after processing.
CONSTITUTION: One or more of Ge and Si in 1'17 atomic % as major solute element and one or more of Au, Pt, Pd, Rh, Ru, Os, and Ir in 1W10 atomic % as sub- additional element are added to Ag, and Si and Ge are finely dispersed. This ingot is hot or cold processed to form into a specified shape and is internally oxidized under atmosphere at a temperature between 250°C and eutectic point. The method easily provides an electric contact-point material which maintains contact properties such as resistance to sticking, contact resistance, and wear resistance against discharge consumption, and has an extremely improved resistance to corrosive gas.
