Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the title compound, having prolonged activity as an antipyretic and lenitive injection, in high yield, by dispersing acetylsalicylic acid in water or a water-containing solvent and then adding a specific acid to the dispersion to attain a specific pH value.
CONSTITUTION: Acetylsalicylic acid is dispersed in water or a water-containing solvent. The dispersion is made to react at ≤25°C, esp. at 0W5°C by adding a basic amino acid, therby maintaining the dispersion at pH4W8 to give the title compound. The basic amino acid is, e.g. L- or DL-arginine, histidine, etc. The molar ratio of the amino acid to acetylsalicylic acid is 0.9W1.1, preferably 0.95W1.05. The less water is used in the reaction, the higher yield can be obtained. Generally, the total amount of water is 0.5W5 times, esp. 1W2 times the amount of acetylsalicylic acid.
