Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover the sensible heat of high-temperature gas by converting it into combustible component with high efficiency by adding a coke oven gas to converter gas near the mouth of a converter.
CONSTITUTION: To the high-temperature waste gas from a converter, containing CO as the main component and 10W25% CO2 and also having a temperature of 1300W1500°C near the mouth of the converter, 5W15vol% coke oven gas is added and mixed to cause CH4 (contained in 25W50%) present in the coke oven gas to react with CO2 present in the converter gas, resulting in conversion into CO and H2 endothermically at a high temperature of 1300W1500°C. Thus, CO2 as a noncombustible component can be converted into combustible CO by utilizing the high- temperature sensible heat of the converter gas and also CH4 present in the coke oven gas can be converted into H2. In short, sensible heat energy can be effectively converted into gas energy.
