Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the thermal loss and obtain the simple structure, reduced size and reduced weight by an arrangement wherein the current lead are fitted only when exciting the superconductive magnet and the permanent current energy in the superconductive magnet is recovered through the demagnetization resistance when demagnetizing. CONSTITUTION:A superconductive coil 3 is placed in a low temperature container 1 filled with the He2 liquid and immersed in He. Lead ends 3a, 3b of the coil 3 are connected to tube-shaped connecting members 4a, 4b, respectively, while tube- shaped current leads 6a, 6b having tapered lower ends are inserted into the container 1 from a cover plate 1a closing the upper opening of the container 1. These leads 6a, 6b are detachably fitted to recesses in the connecting members 4a, 4b, respectively. Both ends of the coil 3 are connected to a demagnetization resistor 10 provided at the outside of the container through magnetization leads 9a, 9b. This external resistor 10 recovers the energy in the coil 3 and then demagnetizes the coil 3. By so doing, it becomes possible to obtain the simple structure, reduced size and reduce weight.
