Abstract
PURPOSE: To regenerate powder activated carbon without a combustion and scattering loss by controlling the temp. of an upper wall portion of a container to 100°C or above and the temp. of the upper space of the container to 400°C or below when the carbon in the container is regenerated by indirect heating from the outside while being agitated.
CONSTITUTION: Powder activated carbon 10 is fed into regeneration container 1 with feeder 2 while being indirectly heated with heater 5 from the outside of container 1. In container 1 carbon 10 is heated while being agitated slowly and mechanically with vanes 4, and the regenerated carbon is charged into recovery tank 3. At this time, by controlling the temp. of an upper wall portion of container 1W100°C or above and the temp. of the upper space of container 10W400°C or below carbon 10 is regenerated without scattering. This invention is pref. applied to an apparatus, e.g., the apparatus of the figure in which the top of container 1 is heat insulated, heat exchanger 20 for temp. control is set, and heat exchanger members 21 are inclined by 5W15° from the horizontal plane in the same direction so that condensate does not fall immediately, flows along members 21, and falls along the wall of container 1 even if recondensation takes place on members 21.
