Abstract

PURPOSE: To maintain a well-fluidized state of activated carbon for regeneration in a fluidized bed system activated carbon regenerating apparatus by constructing a flow regulation packed layer for introducing a hot gas into the regeneration chamber so that the section is made uniform over the whole height of the layer.
CONSTITUTION: A hot gas produced in combustion chamber 3 is introduced into regeneration chamber 5 through flow regulation packed layer 15 to heat regenerate waste activated carbon charged into chamber 5 from supply inlet 7 while fluidizing the carbon. In this activated carbon regenerating apparatus lower end portion 5' of chamber 5 is formed into a funnel shape, and the bottom with the smallest diameter is connected to the top of right cylindrical opening 13 made in wall 12. Refractory support bed 14 is set in a lower end portion of opening 13, and refractory grains are packed on bed 14 up to the top of opening 13 to form layer 15 whose section is made uniform over the whole height. In order to maintain a well-fluidized state in the apparatus, the hot gas rising linear velocity in layer 15 is desirably adjusted to about 25cm/sec or less.
