Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the yield of cutting operation and reduct the cost, by preventing disturbance at outlet end and occurence of defect of glass substrate by scribing with leaving the inlet end and outlet end.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of pairing electrode patterns are arrayed on a pair of glass substrates 14, 15, and liquid crystal is injected in the space between the substrates 14 and 15 through adhesive or fritted glass or spacer. Then, positions of (a) to (k) are scrived. AT this time, without fitting a super hard alloy roller to an inlet end 17 and an outlet end 18 of the scribe line 16, scribing is started from an intervening point between the glass substrates 14, 15, and scribing is finished before reaching the outlet end 18. Afterwards, by applying a slight external force in the bending direction or thermal impulse, the substrates may be broken easily including the inlet ends 17 and outlet ends 18. Thus, by scribing with leaving the inlet ends and outlet ends, disturbance of the outlet ends and accurence of defect of glass substrates may be prevented.
