Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent damage and abnormal vibration by providing a long circumferential groove not reaching the divided surface between the upper half bearingcooling groove and both ends and by dividing oil into the cooling groove and the long groove.
CONSTITUTION: The oil supplied from an oil supply hole 3b of the lower half bearing 3 flows into a bearing gap being divided in the cooling groove 2b and in the two long grooves 2c by a parting plate 3e set up in an oil pooling groove 3d. The oil in the long groove 2c flows out of the sliding surface as indicated by an arrow showing the positive pressure. In case the inside of the cooling groove 2b becomes negative-pressure on account of failed oil, even if desired to draw in air from the bearing end, the air intermixture from the bearing end is completely checked because of the sliding surface positive pressure. In this way oil film ridigity increases, critical speed improves, oil film break is eliminated, finally abnormal vibration and damage are prevented.
