Abstract
PURPOSE: To raise the efficiency of drilling of a printed board, by making the cutting edge of a drill hollow to provide a laser light path.
CONSTITUTION: A rotary shaft 1 is supplied to a chuck 4 which holds a drilling edge 3 having a hollow part 2. The rotary shaft 1 is made hollow. Fiberglass 8 provided with a fiber sheath 7 is laid in the rotary shaft. An irradiation regulating lens 13 is provided in a path for laser light 12 produced by a laser generator 11. The lens 13 is located below the fiberglass 8. The laser light 12 from the laser generator is transmitted through the path of the fiberglass 8 and the lens 13, the focus of which is located slightly in front of the tip of the drilling edge 3 by a lens positioning means 15. As a result, bending, breaking or the like of a drill is prevented by small- scale equipment.
