Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A 6, 11-dihydro-11-oxodibenz [b, c] oxepin derivative of formula I. (R1 is H, halogen, alkyl, or alkoxy group; R2 is H or alkyl group with may be substituted by OH or analkyl group; n is 1 or 2; however, n is 1 when R2 is H or methyl group; R1 is substituent except H).
EXAMPLE: 2-n-butyl-6, 11-dihydro-11-oxodibenz[b, e] oxepin.
USE: Anti-inflammatory agents with little gastric disorder and side effects.
PROCESS: A novel compound of formula II; (X is OH, halogen, acyloxy, or alkoxy- carbonyloxy group) is subjected the ring closure to give the compound of formula I. The compound of formula II can be obtained by reacting a compound of formula III with a compound of formula IV, and by hydrolyzing the reaction product to form a compound of formula IIa, which is converted into a compound of formula IIb, if desired.
