Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily and accurately detect the shape of the surface of a seat when used by using a flexible thin plate and needles.
CONSTITUTION: There are perpared a coordinate meter 6, which is equipped with metal needles 6d and 6h, and a metal thin plate 3a. When the surface shape of the center of a seat is to be measured, the thin plate 3a is extended longitudinally on the center portion of a seat back 1 so that its upper and lower ends fixed by means of adhesive tapes 4a and 4b. Then, a man 5 is seated on the seat, and the leading end of the needle 6d extending from a main pole 6a acting as a reference position is inserted from the back 1 through the seat until it contacts with the back of the thin plate 3a. And, the leading end of the needle 6h extending from a main lever 6e acting as a reference position is inserted through a seat cushion 2 until it contacts with the back of the plate 3a. The spacing between the reference position and the leading ends of the needles 6d and 6h is measured. As a result, similar measurements are consecutively repeated with respect to the position to be measured so that the desired objects can be attained.
