Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the oil from leaking from a sea chest by a system wherein sea water sucked from a sea chest provided with a check valve is supplied to respective tank through a reversed U pipe flow-way, the top thereof is located higher than the highest oil level of the cargo oil tank.
CONSTITUTION: Sea water sucked by an exclusive ballast pump P2 through the pipe I' of the sea chest I provided with a check valve 1 is respectively supplied to the oil cargo tank C or the exclusive ballast tank D by passing through the reversed U pipe III1WIII3, the top thereof are located higher than the highest storage oil level VI of the cargo oil tank. The malfunction of the valves located at the cargo oil pipe A may not cause any oil outflow from the sea chest I, enabling the sea water cleaning of the oil pipe and the sea water filling in the oil tank to practive without back flow of oil from the sea chest.
