Abstract
PURPOSE: To measure temperature easily by providing a substance, the phase of which varies with temperature and the lightness of which changes according to the said phase change, between the branching point and the confluence point of the light ray course.
CONSTITUTION: A ferroelectric crystal that is a solid solution of both KTaO3 and KNbO3 is used, the phase transition temperature varies with the solution rate, the substance is clear in the case of a state of cubic crystal (high temperature side) and changes its ferroelectric area and becomes opeque in the case of a state of tetragonal crystal (low temperature side). Pieces of a crystal of a solution rate the transistion temperature of which becomes 0, 10, 20, 30 and 40°C in turn, for example, are arranged in the order of 11W15 as shown in Figure. The light ray from the light source 4 is equally divided into respective fibers at the branch point 2, passes the phase change substance 11W15 through the lenses 6 and reaches the photodetector 5. When the ambient temperature is, for example, 25°C, the substances 11W13 are clear and other ones 14, 15 are opaque. Accordingly the ambient temperature can be known.
