Abstract
PURPOSE:To convert radiation image with a sensitivity much highr than the conventional method practically, by using a fluorescent substance contained in a specific rare earth-activated oxyhalide substance. CONSTITUTION:Radiation after passing through an object is absorbed by a fluorescent substance of formula Ln OX;xA (Ln is at least one of La, Y, Gd, or Lu; X is Cl and/or Br; Ais Ce and/or Tb; 0<x<0.1). The substance is excited by electromagnetic waves of visible hight of long wavelengths >=500nm and/or infrared rays to emit the accumulated radiation energy as fluorescence, which is detected. La is preferred as Ln.
