Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable an active material to be filled in a high density, by using a plurality of filling tanks and sliding jigs, separately changing densities of the active material and rubbing the active material onto a foamed metal, when the active material in a paste state is filled into the foamed metal. CONSTITUTION:A filling device is constructed of a filling tank 1, that contains an active material 6 in a paste state, and a sliding jig 2. Plural sets of the filling device are provided. A web of a foamed metal 4 is continuously or intermittently fed on a porous support plate 3 provided on a top part of said filling tank 1 while the paste state active material 6 is rubbed and filled by rubbing plates 8 of the sliding jig 2. The rubbing plates 8 provided on the sliding jig 2 are constructed by, for instance, silicon rubber, softness degrees of which plates are charged in such a manner that they successively become harder toward the inlet of their respective filling devices. While the paste state active materials 6, 6', 6'' in the filling tanks 1, 1', 1'' differ in density from each another and the rubbing speeds of the sliding jig 2, 2', 2'' are different from one another so as to increase the filling density.
