Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily produce a pigment having good dispersibility, by coating and fixing a pigment with the reaction product of an anionic high-molecular compound with a cationic surfactant or a cationic high-molecular compound.
CONSTITUTION: An anionic high-molecular compound (1W10wt%, based on pigment) is added to water or an alcoholic solution, dissolved at a temperature of 20W 60°C, and after addition of a pigment, mixed with stirring. To the resulting mixture, a solution of a cationic surfactant or a cationic high-molecular compound in an excess amount over the anionic high-molecular compound, and thereby, the surface of the pigment is coated and fixed with the reaction product from the compounds. Examples of the pigments which are applicable include inorganic pigments such as iron oxides, ultramarine blue and talc, and organic pigments such as aluminum lake and Helindon Pink CN.
