Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture the thin diameter electric welded steel pipe with inner surface entirely coated with low melting point coating material being uniformly molten and spread, by preparing the steel strip in which the metallized layer of low melting point metal is continuously formed along the longitudinal part of one side plane, and by making the seam pipe with this steel strip placing the metallized layer inside, and next, by heating it within the nonoxidizing atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: The thin steel sheet 1 being sent out of the uncoiler U is fed into the metallizing process IO in which the metallized layer m' of the coating material (m) comprising the low melting point metal like as tin, etc., is continuously slimly formed at the part 1b slimly continuing between both side edges 1', 1', of the surface of steel sheet 1 on the side to be inside of the pipe. Next, this steel sheet 1, being provided with the layer m', is fed into the process I to form the open seam pipe 2 provided with inner surface of the layer m'; after that, the open pipe 2 is sent to the process II to form the seam pipe 3 by butt welding (w) the end parts 1a, 1a, of both side edges 1', 1', using the electrode roll ER and pressure welding roll R2. Then, this pipe 3 is sent to the process III to heat the pipe to temperatures at which the coating material (m) melts and flows, or higher temperatures, within the nonoxidizing gas or reducing gas atmosphere, in order to melt and spread the layer m' over the inner surface of the pipe 3.
