Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain fully dried pellets by bringing molten granular resins into contact with water mist as the resins freely drop down on an oblique drain board, and by draining the water while they move down thus effectively cooling the pellets that are made by means of the hotcut method. CONSTITUTION:Molten pellets supplied from an opening 2, pass through the mist of cooling water as they freely drop inside of a spray room to an oblique surface of a drain board located on the bottom of the spray room. Then the water is drained while the pallets slide down the slope, and are dropped from the lower end 5 of the board and are collected. These water drained pellets are fully solidified but still warm and they hold enough temperature to evaporate water remaining in the pellets with their own heat. Thus the remaining water in the pellets evaporates and the pellets are dried until they contain almost no water during a cooling process to cool the pellets enough to be transfered, packed and shipped.
