Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic disk which is superior in resistance to wear, lubricity and durability by generating unevenness by making an abrasive grain surface in contact with a surface-processed coating surface, and then by holding a liquid lubricant in concave parts.
CONSTITUTION: Polishing paper of approximately 0.3W15μ in grain size or polishing film 1 is made in contact with surface-finished magnetic disk 2 and from its top surface, press contact 7 is pressed to form unevenness on the surface of magnetic coating 5. In concave parts of this unevenness part, a liquid lubricant is held and supplied onto the surface of coating all the time, so that the coating of magnetic disk 2 will improve in resistance to wear and lubricity. This unevenness has a depth of approximately 0.1μ and size of 2W3μ, which causes neither a bit error nor noise.
