Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove the reflected light returning from the light receiving surface of optical fibers and the other end face by providing a light attenuating means to one or both of between a semiconductor laser and lens-form converging medium and between the lens-form converging medium and optical fiber.
CONSTITUTION: The reflected light returning from the light receiving end of an optical fiber 4 and the other end face is attenuated by light attenuating films 6 and 5 as shown by the broken lines and therefore the reflected light returning to a semiconductor laser 1 is less. In addition, the exit light of the semiconductor laser 1 is entered to the optical fiber 4 in a plug 3 through an optical filter 8 and lens-form converging medium 2, but the reflected light returning from the light receiving end of this optical fiber 4 and its other end face is attenuated by the optical fiber 8 as shown by the broken lines and therefore the amount of return to the optical fiber 1 is less. By such constitution, the reflected light returning from the light receiving face and other end face of the optical fiber is removed and the noise of the semiconductor laser may be improved.
