Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve corrosion resistance of chain by use of link plates coated with a metal functioning noble to steel.
CONSTITUTION: Link plates 21 are basically made of rolled steel used as ordinary structural material. A coating layer of metal or alloy like Al or Zn functioning noble to steel is formed on the surface of link plates 21 by way of flame spray coating or by dispersing and involving such a metal or alloy by way of metal dispersion method. A pin 23 is fitted loosely in a bush 22 which is fixed to the link plates 21 at its opposite ends, and a roller 24 is fitted loosely on the bush 22. Opposite ends of the pin 23 are extended through the enlarged side of link plates 21 and it is clamped tightly in place by use of nut 26 and washer 25. Further, tubular spacers 27 are fixed on the inside of a pair of link plates 21 for keeping the spacing between the pair of link plates constant. Stainless steel is used as elements of the chain other than the like plates 21.
