Abstract

CONSTITUTION: (a) Sorbic acid and (or) alkali salt thereof and (b) above 0.05 wt%, pref., 1W10wt% of a benzyl type surface active agent shown by a formula I (R is alkyl; X is halogen) are compounded to obtain a composition for imparting anti- fungal property to an aqueous glyoxalated polyvinyl alcohol by solution. As an example of a surface active agent shown by a formula I, tetradecyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride shown by a formula II, octadecyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride shown by a formula III or the like are designated. The obtained composition is pref. added to an aqueous glyoxalated PVA solution so as to adjust an adding concentration to 0.005W1wt%.
