Abstract

PURPOSE: To keep exhaust gas recirculation well controlled especially during idling, even when air flow area is reduced due to carbon deposit, by setting an auxiliary passage bypassing a control valve which controls exhaust gas recirculation in accordance with air intake.
CONSTITUTION: A throttle chamber 1 connected with an exhaust gas recirculation passage 4 is equipped with a throttle lever 2, control valve 3, recirculation opening 5, recirculation control valve 6 and valve seat 10 facing the conrol valve 3. The clearance between the control valve 3 and valve seat 10 is designed very narrow when the valve is totally closed, so that air passing through the clearance is reduced during idling. An auxiliary air passage 7, which bypasses the main air passage formed by the throttle chamber 1, is set between upper and lower streams of the control valve 3, and an adjust screw 8 for controlling air flow between the bypass 7 and the main air passage is set at the opening of the passage 7.
