Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable tracking corrections covering a wide control range by applying a piezoelectric element with an inherent driving signal corresponding to various playback modes, and by correcting the remaining track shift by a control voltage detected by warbling. CONSTITUTION:Fixed pattern generator 38 generates driving signal waves corresponding to various mode such as slow, still and fast modes on the basis of rotary phase signals from rotary phase detection heads 9a and 9b. Thus, fixed pattern generator 38 makes previoulsy-tracked rotary heads 5a and 5b scan on recording tracks. Then, even if tracks would shift by not less than TW, an answering error voltage is obtained by an integral adder and supplied to piezoelectric elements 4a and 4b to move rotary heads 5a and 5b in the track-width direction, thereby controlling tracking completely. Thus, tracking control can be exercised covering a wide range.
