Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove mounting and pins, prevent twist of pins and local wear of pads by a method wherein a rotor rotating together with a wheel can move in the axle direction, while calipers are fixed directly to the fixed part of a car body.
CONSTITUTION: A hub 32, an intermediate member 26 and a rotor 18 rotate as one body with revolution of wheels. At this time, when liquid pressure is supplied to a liquid pressure chamber 17, a piston 16 is pushed to the right and the lining 19 of an inner pad 21 comes in contact with the left side surface of a rotor 18. The rotor 18, sliding along the lining 19, is guided by spline teeth 32 and moves to the right. When the right side of the rotor comes in contact with the linging 22 of an outer pad 24, reaction appears and the rotor 18 is braked by being pressed between linings 19, 22 of both pads 21, 24. Then, since the caliper 11 which is connected to the fixed part of the car body through a member 14 does not rotate, the linings 19, 22 are prevented from generating local wear.
