Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform conventionally difficult high-speed wiping operation by a method wherein a wiping nozzle surface and its jet stream form an acute angle, and a sealing box is installed to surround a strip and the nozzle. CONSTITUTION:A pair of nozzles 3 are installed to face a strip 2 which is vertically drawn from sink roll 5 in plating bath 4. The surface 3a of the nozzle and gas jet stream are made to form an acute angle beta less than 45 deg.. This causes air flow near the gas stream to rapidly escape, jet stream concentration to increase, and thus wiping force increases. A sealing box 6 is installed to surround the strip 2 in a specific range over plating bath 4 and the nozzles 3, and N2 gas is charged from the inlet 8. This prevents molten plating metal from oxidation, prevents aplash viscosity from increasing, and decreases splash deposition on the nozzle 3. Thus, this makes it possible to perform a high-speed wiping operation of 150m/min or more, to reduce dross production, and to increase production yield.
