Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the mutual interference of side thrusters and of the side thruster and a hull positioned opposite each other, by a method wherein one opening of a tunnel for a side thruster of a twin-hull type floating is pointed to a level which is lower than that of the bottom of the opposite hull.
CONSTITUTION: Tunnels Tf, Ta and Tf', Ta' for side thrusters mounted at a twin-hull type floating structure with twin-hull immersed in water are located at the bows and the quarter of hulls H and H', respectively, such that axis centers of them are positioned in a slight shifting place in a longitudinal direction. An opening on the out side of the tunnel for the side thruster is made such that the axis thereof is positioned in paralle. In the meantime, an opening on the inside is formed such that the axis points to a level which is positioned lower than that of the bottom of the opposite hull, the opening being bent totally in an obtuse-angle shape. This causes discharged water stream to run away without hitting against the opposite hull H or H', and thus, a high efficient horizontal thrust can be obtained.
