Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve a stability performance of a vessel, by a method wherein opengins are formed at a position including a draft portion of a strut, a cover having a plural holes perforated vertically is placed on the opengins, a waterline area of the strut is changed by opening the cover, and an intrinsic frequency period of the vessel is changed.
CONSTITUTION: In a half-submerged vessel G where an upper structure 2 is installed on an upper portion of a submerged object 1 through the medium of a strut 3, an opening 4 is provided at a position including at least a draft portion (a) of the strut 3, an openable cover being located at the opening 4. A great many holes are perforated vertically in the cover 5, and sea water and air can easily be moved through the said perforations in such a condition as keeps the cover open. This constitution causes a waterline area of the strut, i.e., a cross-section area of the draft portion to be reduced by a cross-section area equivalent to the cover, and permits the change of a natural period of a half-submerged vessel.
