Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the work, by a method wherein an arm of a shaft bracket is inserted into holes perforated in the bottom and cover of a support box located at the bottom of a ship and the support box is permanently welded after the axis center of a shaft bracket is alined by moving the shaft arm vertically.
CONSTITUTION: A support box 10 is temporarily welded to an outer plate 8 of the ship bottom through the medium of a seat plate 7. An arm 2 of a shaft bracket is inserted into perforations 17 and 17 made in a bottom 10a and a cover 11, respectively, and the arm is temporarily fixed by inserting a rod 14 into an eye plate 13 secured on the end of the arm 2. The axis center of a boss 1 of the shaft bracket is then alined with the axis center of a propeller shaft 9, and the shaft bracket is mounted at a ship by permanently welding the support box 10 to the ship. This permits the elimination of the need for coinciding actual parts with each other at a building slip, and permits the protection against the leakage of water occurring due to vibration.
