Abstract

PURPOSE: To make unnecessary the hydrogen-oxygen recoupling device in the conventional method, eliminate pollution, and reduce maintenance expenses and cost, by properly combining and disposing recovery tower, concentrating column, water electrolytic tank, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The water containing tritium (T) from a nuclear reactor 1 is introduced into the top part of an isotopic reaction tower 3 (concentrating column) through a line 2, and T is caused to migrate to the liquid side by the reaction by catalysis and reaction of H2O (liquid) + HT (gas) ←→ HTO (liquid) + H2 (gas), and the concentrated liquid of T is sent into an electrolytic tank 4 to be decomposed into hydrogen and oxygen, thereby raising the hydrogen into the tower 3. The hydrogen having a thin concentration of the tower 3 reaches a recovery tower 6 and is made to contact with pure water 7, and advances to a discharge line 9 in a state not containing T, so that the water is used as make-up water in the nuclear reactor 1. At the same time, the concentrated water of T is estracted from the electrolytic tank 4 and treated as required.
