Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate tritium at high efficiency, by providing water electrolytic tank beneath the reaction tower to carry out isotopic exchange reaction of tritium containing water and H2, and producing O2 which works to adsorb H2 necessary for reaction and tritium condensed water together to the adsorbent.
CONSTITUTION: Tritium containing water 8 is supplied into an exchange reaction tower 1 filled with catalyzer necessary for reaction, from the top part thereof, and leaves the tank from the bottom part to be electrolyzed into hydrogen and oxygen in a water electrolytic tank 2. The hydrogen rises in the exchange reaction tower 1 to counter-contact with tritium containing water, thereby causing isotopic exchange reaction due to the action of catalyzer. Then, the tritium moves from the hydrogen gas side to the water side, while the water descends the tower, and the tritium concentration becomes higher. Together with the O2 produced in the water electrolytic tank 2, the tritium enters a dehumidifying tower 3 through a line 10 to be absorbed, and is separated at the time of regeneration of the dehumidifying tower to be discharged as tritium condensed water out of the system from a line 13.
