Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain constant good shape despite of the change of draft percentage, by changing the bending force in order to correct the change of the crown.
CONSTITUTION: The crown computer B computes the exit side crown ratio of the first stand, and the bending force of following each stand required for obtaining above stated crown ratio. Thus obtained bending force of each stand is transmitted to the roll bender D by the bending force controller C, and the distorsion of the roll of each stand is controlled. After the rolling condition is settled as stated above, the roll bending force is set in each stand. If the distribution of draft percentage is changed while operating the rolling work, or if the actual rolling load differs from the computed rolling load, the actual rolling load detector E detects the rolling load, and the detected value is transmitted to the crown computer B which then computes the bending force; this bending force is transmitted from the bending force controller C to the roll bender D. That is, the change of crown, being caused owing to the difference between the computed rolling load and the actual rolling load, is corrected by changing the bending force.
