Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a power source good suitable for an indoor-use electronic (portable) calculator, by composing a photoelectromotive force device using amorphous silicon whose heat-generating efficiency to light radiated from a plurescent light is larger than that of single-crystal silicon. CONSTITUTION:While an electronic calculator main 20 is generally provided with a key board 21 and a liquid crystal indicator 22, a photoelectromotive force device using amorphous silicon is further incorporated keeping its light-receiving surface 23 in upward position. This photoelectromotive force device uses a visible-light- pervious glass plate as a flat light-receiving surface 23, and No.1-No.3 membranous electricity-generating regions 8-10 are formed on the light-receiving surface. These electricity-generating regions are respectively composed of amorphous silicon layers 11 and No.1 and No.2 electrodes 12 and 13 facing each other with the silicon layers between them, in substance, the layers 11 are composed of a p-type layer, a non-dope layer and an n-type layer. The electrodes 12 are to be made of tin oxide and indium oxide, etc., which are pervious to visible light, and the electrodes 13 are to be made of aluminum and chromium, etc. It is possible, in this mechanism, to obtain a small-size electronic device containing a photo-electromotive force device.
