Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve drivability and stability of an engine by fixing an ignition timing limited in the recommended range if a difference is too great between two values of an ignition timing calculated and another ignition timing prior to it having been stored. CONSTITUTION:A processing unit 2 in a computer 1 receives each signal from sensors 7-10 to fix a reference value of ignition timing. After comparison of the reference value of an ignition timing with another value of a prior ignition timing stored in a memory 6, if a difference between the reference value and another prior to it is within a recommended range, the reference value is used for a next ignition timing and if the value is out of the range, a value limited in the recommended range is used. An ignition signal breaks a primary circuit of the ignition coil 13 to produce a high-tension current which is fed to ignition plugs 15-20 across a distributor 14.
