Abstract

PURPOSE: To reinforce the metal plate body of sufficient strength even at the end part by so forming the laminate that lightweight core material is crushed subsequently toward the end at its end part.
CONSTITUTION: A fiber-reinforced thermosetting resin laminate 2 is contacted to the back of a metal plate body 1 and is bonded to the metal plate body 1 at its both ends 3, 4. This laminate 2 is constituted by the two surface materials 5, 6 composed of fiber-reinforced thermosetting resin and a lightweight core material 7 existing therebetween. This lightweight core material 7 is not mostly crushed in the region of I but in the region of II, its end faces are slightly crushed and in the region of III they are virtually crushed. In the remaining cell the lightweight core material 7 is filled with thermosetting resin. In the region of IV, the lightweight core material 7 is nearly perfectly crushed and is integral with the thermosetting resin. The tip of the end part is mechanically fitted with a bonding piece 9 made of metal and is further bonded by welding to the metal plate body 1.
