Abstract
PURPOSE:To clearly form letters, figures, etc. without discontinuity by using a mask composed of a patterned metal sheet and a net and placing a vacuum deposition source at an angle to the normal line of a pattern forming face. CONSTITUTION:Metal sheet 9 of mask 8 is closely contacted and fixed to the pattern forming face of glass plate 7 which is an object for forming a pattern. Vacuum deposition source 10 is placed at a position outside angle theta between normal line 11 of the pattern forming face and tangential line 13 of a wire of net 12, and as source 10 metal or metal oxide is used. During deposition, source 10 is turned on line 11 as its axis, or plate 7 is revolved round source 10. Plate 7 may be revolved and rotated on line 11 as its axis at the same time. Thus, the shadows of the wires of net 12 can be prevented from being left on a formed pattern.
