Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:Antibiotic substance C-19393S2. Appearance, white powder; specific rotatory power, [α]D22=-152±15° (c=0.5, water), molecular formula (estimation), C14H16N2Na2O9S2; solubility, insoluble in chloroform, ethyl acetate, etc., slightly soluble in ethanol, pyridine, etc., soluble in methanol, acetic acid, etc.; color reactions, positive to Ehrlich reaction, etc., negative to ninhydrin reaction, etc.
USE: A remedy for infectious diseases, and an antiseptic agent. Effectice to gram- positive and gram-negative bacteria. Exhibits synergistic effect with penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics. An intermediate of medicine. Stable at neutral pH range.
PROCESS: Streptomyces sp.C-19393 (FERM-P No.4774) are cultured in a medium at 15W32°C and about pH 4W8, for about 8W16hr. The cultivation product is separated into the supernatant liquid and the bacterial cells pref. by centrifugal separation. The objective substance can be obtained from the supernatant liquid or the cultivation product.
