Abstract

PURPOSE: To make removal of slag at narrow groove welding easy by specifying the respective component amounts of the flux of SiO2-Al2O3-TiO2 base.
CONSTITUTION: The flux containing SiO2; 10 to 20%, Al2O3; 23 to 36%, TiO2; 15 to 28% based on weight, and SiO2 + Al2O3 + TiO2 = 55 to 75%, Al203/SiO2 at 1.3 or over and CaF2; 6 to 18% and further one or more kinds of MnO; 10% or under, CaO; 9% or under, MgO; 14% or under at MnO + CaO + MgO = 13 to 25%, SiO2 + MnO = up to 25%. As the reasons for limiting the respective components, SiO improves the viscosity and removability of slag and Al2O3 improves the removability of slag and bead shape. TiO2 improves the shrinkage rate and impact value at the slag cooling.
