Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the erosion of cooling pipe obsolete by beforehand casting the body provided with a recess corresponding to the portion for inserting the circumference of a cooling pipe then inserting the cooling pipe in this recess with a small amount of molten metal and integrating the same with the body. CONSTITUTION:A recess 5 of converging mouth-form corresponding to the shape of the secondary insert block 4 for inserting a cooling pipe 2 is formed in a body block 1a. Next, with the body block 1a as a mold, the cooling pipe 2 is held in the recess 5 and molten metal 4 is poured into the remaining space to insert the cooling pipe 2 and integrate the same with the body block 1a, whereby a cooling stave 1 is provided. According to this method, the molten metal making direct contact with the cooling pipe is only the portion corresponding to the secondary insert block and therefore heat capacity becomes smaller as compared to conventional method and the need for welding the cooling pipe is eliminated.
