Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform speed and position control with high accuracy, by providing a rotary brake which is rotated by torque caused between a nut for a ball screw and a ball screw member and providing a detector for detecting the rotative position and revolution speed of the ball screw.
CONSTITUTION: When a position instruction input 21 corresponding to the displacement of a piston is applied by a digital signal, a calculator 22 computes the direction and quantity of displacement of a piston rod 3 and applies a direction discrimination signal to an amplifier 23 for driving a solenoid valve. As a result, the solenoid valve 24 is switched to supply compressed air from a compressed air source 25 to an air cylinder for a servomechanism to move the piston 2 in one direction. Consequently, a ball screw 5 is rotated through a nut 4 located in a piston rod 3. An encoder 11 generates a digital signal correspondingly to the rotation of the ball screw. An electromagnetic brake 10 is controlled by a semiclosed loop mechanism depending on the digital signal to perform servo position control.
