Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect an envelope signal in a four-shape signal, obtained by full- wave rectifying and by adding signals phase-shifted by phase shifter circuits, at a rapid response speed by providing the phase shifter circuits which derive nearly-90°- out-of-phase signals from a musical sound signal.
CONSTITUTION: To detect a signal expressing the envelope of a musical sound signal on the basis of the input of the musical sound signal, the input signal is inputted to LPF11 to output the low-frequency component of the input musical- sound signal and the signal of this low frequency component is applied to phase shifter circuits 11 and 22 which have mutually a phase difference of approximate 90°. Then, output signals 90° out of phase are full-wave-rectified by full-wave rectifier circuits 31 and 32 and full-wave rectification outputs of circuits 31 and 32 are added together at output point (p) to obtain a four-phase full-wave rectification output basing upon the musical sound signal. This for-phase rectification output is applied to LPF12 with a smoothing circuit of a preset time constant, so that an envelope signal faithful to the musical sound signal will appear at the output of LPF12.
