Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently separate grains or powder from foreign material by a method wherein thin layered powder or grains are dropped through electrodes that generate uneven electric field, and both are separately collected.
CONSTITUTION: An electrostatic grain or powder separator consists of: powder charging device 1 having V type walls 4, 5 at both side from which powder falls in thin layer; high voltage electrode 22 consisting of metal drum 26; groud electrode 27 of multiple fine metal wire; both electrodes 22 and 27 forming branch guide device 2; and collecting device 3 consisting of collecting hoppers 32, 33 having outlets 34, 35 with dampers 36, 37. The branch guide device 2 and collecting device 3 are installed in air tight chamber 24. Powder or grains of about 20W80 mesh in diameter are preferably separated by use of this equipment.
