Abstract

PURPOSE: To operate an inexpensive voltage differential relay by making the subwinding (main winding) produce a residual voltage that is the same extent as the voltage in a normal time even when the lead wire of main winding (subwinding) is short-circuited.
CONSTITUTION: When voltage is applied to the primary winding 1, voltage is produced in the main winding 2 and subwinding 3 through the windings 8, 9 and iron cores 12, 13. Also the coupling windings 10, 11 are provided for stabilizing the voltage of winding 2. The cross-sectional areas of both the iron cores 12, 13 are the same, the number of turns of the windings 8, 9, 10 is N and that of the windings 2, 3, 11 is 2N. When the iron cores 12, 13 are excited by the winding 9, each flux in the cores 12, 13 is a half of the flux ϕ of the winding 9 by actions of the windings 10, 11. When the lead wire 7 of the master winding 2 is short-circuited, a flux of (0.4W0.6) ϕ is generated in the winding 9 by the leak impedance of respective windings 1, 2, 10, 11 and the short-circuit current, it is eliminated in the core 12 and passes through the core 13. Accordingly a residual voltage of 0.8W 1.2 times as much as the normal voltage can be obtained, an inexpensive differential relay can sufficiently be operated.
