Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance compression strength of concrete by a method wherein a negative pressure for pressing and fixing a temporary canvas mold against a pit excavation surface is utilized also for removing excessive water contained in the placed concrete.
CONSTITUTION: Of a temporary double-sheet canvas mold 2, 3, the gas/water-permeable mold element 2 is situated on the side of an excavation surface 1 with a water-permeable layer 4 therebetween, and the gas/water-impermeable mold element 3 is situated on the side of the atmosphere 5. Air and water in the layer 4 are removed by a vacuum pump 8, and the mold 2, 3 is pressed and fixed against the surface 1 of a tunnel. Then, with concrete 10 forced into the space between the mold elements 2 and 3 by a concrete pump 9, moisture in the concrete 10 is removed by the pump 8 through the layer 4, providing high-strength concrete of reduced contraction upon hardening.
