Abstract

PURPOSE:To cause a generation of high heat transfer likely in a sterling engines, also with a dead space lessened, by energizing the operating gas to spirally flow in a clearance, between piston and cylinder with much heating surfaces provided, as a flow path for the operating gas. CONSTITUTION:With a burner 13 operated combustion, to make an up-down movement of a displacer piston 1 while conducting a cooling water in a cooling water jacket 15, the operating gas moves flowing through ring-shape clearances 10, 11, 12, simultaneously with a heat applied when passing through the ring-shape clearance 10 with a spiral gill 7 provided and with a cooling made when passing through the ring-shape clearance 11 with a sprial gill 8 provided. The operating gas, being made into a flow of spiral motion along the spiral gills 7,8, causes no increase of flow resistance, with a high heat transfer efficiency achieved between the operating gas and the spiral gills 7,8. The operating gas, being applied a spiral motion flowing into a high temperature space 16 and a low temperature space 17, also causes a good heat transfer in the internal wall surfaces. Thus the gills 6, 9 operate a reproduction of heat exchange.
