Abstract

PURPOSE:To obviate the production of abnormal images and enable recording images of high contrast and good quality to be obtained even against changes of environmental conditions by controlling recording conditions in correspondence to the impedances of a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:E.g., 10 detecting electrodes are provided to a guard electrode 1 and a d.c. voltage is applied between the same and a counter electrode 4. From the values of the current flowing in the detecting electrodes, the impedances at 10 positions on a recording medium 5 are measured with an impedance measuring part 8 and the mean value of these values is calculated from an arithmetic part 9. According to the results of the calculation, the voltages, time or phases of the signals to be inputted to a recording electrode 11, back electrode 12 or auxiliary electrode are controlled by a control part 10. Or the ratios of the moving speed of the recording body and the moving speed of developer or the basis voltage, etc. applied to the developing part are changed, whereby developing efficiency is controlled.
