CONSTITUTION:In case oxidizing slag is formed in a steel manufacturing electric are furnace, an imperfect combustion flame is sprayed upon the slag layer while regulating the oxygen ratio (the speed of supplying oxygen to a burner / the speed of supplying oxygen required for perfect combustion) to below 0.85 and the flame spray angle of the burner to 30-70 deg.. Thus, the part of the slag surface which part is in direct contact with the flame is stirred, reduction of the slag is accelerated, and heat is supplied to the reaction part to further accelerate the reduction. In addn., reoxidation of molten steel and oxidation consumption of reducing agent due to the surrounding atmosphere are inhibited.
