Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent electrolytic corrosion of a marine propeller by sea water by providing an aluminum alloy propeller insulated from the hull and propulsive shaft.
CONSTITUTION: This marine aluminum alloy propeller is constructed by providing nonmetallic sleeve 2 having larger insulation with larger friction factor with aluminum alloy between the propeller boss 3 and a propulsive shaft 1. Bakelite resin and epoxy resin having higher than 00.8 of friction factor with the boss 3 and high compressive strength against the surface pressure due to urging of the shaft 1 is suitable for the sleeve 2. As a result of experiment for one year of the light and less expensive propeller under sea water, through the conventional one exhibited the electrolytic corrosion on the propeller surface as rough skin, this propeller obtains extremely good result im term of the corrosion resistance.
