Abstract

400,039. Preventing corrosion. DURHAM, H. L., 1526, Oaks Avenue, Everett, Washington, U.S.A. Jan. 23, 1933, No. 2150. [Class 123 (i).] To protect the metal parts of boats, propellers, condensers, pumps, and the like from cor osion in contact with sea water, zinc discs 12 are each attached to a bronze base 16 separated from the hull by insulating material 17, 18. A bolt 19 passes through the hull and is provided with nuts 19a for a connecting wire. When employed with wooden vessels, the insulating means may be omitted. A copper core 24 may be cast within the disc 16 to provide better electrical connection. The conducting wire passes within the vessel to the condenser, propeller shaft or the like to be protected, the electrolytic circuit being completed through the water.
